Review: MUA Lip Lacquers

I first came across these when I saw Emma from Emma Pickles use these in a Youtube video so I was instantly intrigued and fancied trying them myself. I love trying out new products from time to time, especially those that are a bit quirky and offer a bit of something different to your regular lipgloss or lipstick. To me, a lip lacquer suggests matte and long wearing. So I bought these with that expectation.

I must admit that they certainly didn’t disappoint.

The complete range offers 5 vivid colours, of which I bought 4. The one I was instantly drawn to was the deep, cool toned red which you can see me use in my Smokey eyes and Red Lip make-up look here. I’m not normally a big wearer of red on my lips as I always think that my lips are too small for me to pull it off but I actually loved how this looked and it wore beautifully.

The colours I picked up, are Kooky (the purple), Criminal (the pink), Atomic (the coral), Reckless (the red).

Above are all of the swatches and as you can see, they are so pigmented. They all dry to a matte finish which didn’t bleed or rub off, no matter how hard I rubbed. I tried Reckless last weekend when I went for a night out so as you can imagine, I was drinking a fair amount meaning there was more opportunities for my lippy to smudge. The only thing I found with this, whilst drinking was that it kind of crumbled which meant I had to reapply a few times but that didn’t bother me at all as it lasted far longer than a regular lipstick or lipgloss would anyway.

These retail for £3 each which is an absolute bargain for what they are. MUA is an amazing brand and their products far exceed the value of which you pay for them, without a doubt. For a budding make-up artist, building their kit, these would be an excellent addition as you could create some really creative looks with these!
