Dior Airflash foundation has been on the market for some time now so this review is nothing new to the beauty blogosphere. But to me, this kind of foundation is completely new as I have never used one that you spray on. I just had this image in my head of using one of those spray cans of paint with that horrid smell and thick gloopy texture. I was happy to find none of those things whilst trying this foundation.
Dior Claims: ‘New from the Dior laboratory comes an Airflash formula that is lighter and silkier than ever for a fabulously even, flawless finish. Paraben-free and suffused with fresh natural oils that evaporate as soon as they land, it settles imperceptibly as a silky-smooth film with long-wearing coverage but no visible texture. The result is instant: a super-smooth, velvety complexion that feels like a second skin, full of radiance and glow.’
So after getting over the whole ‘I actually have to spray this onto my face?!’ saga, I began to spray small sections of my face with the foundation and then buffing it in with my Sigma F80 brush. This seemed like the easiest way to do it without getting it all over the place and in my hair. This also ensured I didn’t waste any of the product by applying too much of it.
Colour and Finish
I picked up the shade 301 Blond with the intention of using this when I have a bit of a tan. I applied my fake tan one Friday night and tested this foundation for the few days before the tan gradually faded and I was very happy with the colour match as it offered a nice neutral base with no overly strong yellow or pink tones coming through. Straight away, the texture and finish of this reminded me of a slightly heavier version of L’Oreal’s Nude Magique Eau De Teint foundation, which I love. It really is very pleasant with an easy to wear, medium coverage that does make your skin look pretty flawless.
I wore this foundation from 6:45 in the morning until around 8:30 at night. If you have visited my blog before, you will know that I have an oily t-zone so a lot of the time, I get a bit of shine through that area throughout the day. I did experience some shine with this foundation but nothing unsightly. Instead, it just looked natural and glowy rather than greasy.
For £33, I think this is a foundation I will be saving for extra special occasions. If you’re interested in trying this foundation, you can buy it from the Debenhams website here or any Dior make-up counter.
