For nights out and special occasions, I like to reach for a foundation that I know will stay in place all night and sometimes, I can only get that from some of my favourite high end foundations. And sometimes, it can make you feel a little more special using a luxurious face product that you may have had to save up a bit longer to buy.
Granted, there are so many amazing low end foundations that I have in my collection, which you can see in my post here so it was only right to balance it out with a selection of my favourite high end foundations.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid- This is the first high end foundation I ever tried, about 4/5 years ago when I first really started getting into make-up. I’d say this is probably the most popular foundation that MAC do due to the lovely medium/full coverage and it does a great job at keeping my oily skin at bay when set with some powder.
MAC Pro Longwear- This is a foundation I’d heard great things about but never thought of trying up until about a year ago. This is now my go to foundation for nights out or occasions where my make-up will be on for a long time. This is marketed as a medium coverage and I’d say that’s pretty accurate. The finish is pretty matte which is my preference and I never have to check for shine or oilyness.
Estee Lauder Double Wear- Whenever I wear this foundation, I always wonder why I don’t wear it more often. If you have oily skin and want a matte, flawless base, you will find no better match for you than this foundation. If you have dry skin, I probably wouldn’t recommend this as it really is matte as it comes so if that’s not your thing then a dewier foundation might be better suited to you.
Yves Saint Laurent Youth Liberator- This product is fairly new to the market and I read plenty of reviews about it before I decided to try it myself. I’m glad I did because it’s not quite as matte as the other 3 I have mentioned and it gives a really healthy, youthful glow to the skin without looking oily or greasy.
Bare Minerals Original- Before trying this, I had the preconception that using a mineral powder would provide me with zero coverage and it would do absolutely nothing for me. How wrong I was. I decided to buy the starter kit last year and I took it on holiday with me and it is literally all I used. All of my other foundations I took were pushed to one side because this was so light and comfortable to wear. When my tan developed, it adapted really nicely to my change in skin tone. Even though the coverage was light, it was perfect to wear on holiday as I wanted to look as natural as possible.
My lovely dog Billy wanted to get in on the action when I was taking the pictures for the post!
Have you used any of these foundations? If so, let me know what you think of them! Leave me a comment or tweet me at @beasbeautyblog.
