Like I said in my previous post, it is not only the clocks going forward that we have to adapt to with the transition from Winter to Spring but we also need to change a few items in our make-up regime to make the most of the warmer weather. One of the easiest things to switch up is the colour of our blusher. It may not seem like such a big thing, in fact I know plenty of people who don’t even wear it! But it can make such a difference to your make-up look. It can totally transform your face and add that healthy, natural flush of colour which is especially important during Spring.
I really must invest in a plain bed sheet for when I take these photos. Ah, the consequences of having a teeny tiny bedroom.
Above are a few of my favourite blushers to use throughout Spring and to take me right into Summer!
First up is a blusher from MUA in shade 01. I would describe this as a very pale peach with the slightest hint of a shimmer which looks gorgeous, paired with a sweep of bronzer to warm up the face. If you’ve never tried any of the blushers from MUA, get down to your local Superdrug and grab a couple. Even if you don’t end up liking them, they are only £1 each so you haven’t lost much!
Next is the Yves Saint Laurent Palette D’Artiste for the complexion which looks really pale and boring when it’s swatched but when you swirl your brush around the colours all at once, you get this really natural looking sheen to your cheeks which looks so pretty with a tan as the light picks up the tiny flecks of sparkle. This would be a perfect holiday colour!
Next is an Accessorize Bronzing Block in shade 3. As you can see from the picture, this is the most gorgeous coral shade. You only need a light hand when applying this as it is really pigmented, much more so than I expected when I first got it. That’s one of the things I love about finding hidden gems from Boots and Superdrug, they can really surprise you. This blusher is obviously modelled on the box blushes from Benefit and the contents aren’t much different from Coralista but if you can save £15 on a product that is so similar, you’d be stupid not to right?!
I only have a couple of the MAC Mineralized blushes but this one in the shade Gentle is hard for me to resist every Spring time as it isn’t too pigmented and has a really pretty sheen to it so you don’t need to use a highlighter. I would describe this colour as a cool toned pink/plum with a slight gold iridescence. Due to this blusher being cool toned, this would also be a great colour to use in Autumn and Winter but the gold shimmer brings it back to the warmer months as one of my favourites.
Last but not least, we have a NYX blush in Summer Peach. I actually bought this whilst browsing on the Make-Up Geek website so I didn’t actually get to see it in person before I bought it so it’s a good job that I like it so much! This reminds me a lot of the MUA shade I mentioned earlier but it is deeper in colour and slightly more pigmented, making it ideal to use for something like a BBQ in the garden where you want your make-up to last and still be there by the end of the night!
