Review: Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream

Last summer, I started noticing that the dark circles around my eyes were getting a little worse (exam time and lack of sleep didn’t help much) and so I started the search for a new eye cream to try. I had tried one from Avon briefly which didn’t agree with me and it just made my eyes sting so I was on the hunt for something a little better. Of course it is difficult to know what you will think of an eye cream until you get it home because it’s not like you can test it there and then in the shop or at least not for me, who wears a full face of make-up wherever I go. So whilst I was browsing Duty Free at the airport, I came across Benefit’s It’s Potent.

This dinky little pot offers 14.2g of product which, after owning this product for about 9 months and using it at least 3 times a week, is more than enough. Plus it s a glass tub which, to me, is much more luxurious than acrylic casing and seeing as it is only small, the glass adds more weight to the product making me feel like it’s worth the money.

Benefit are so well known for their funky branding and clever product names that I felt like this product fell a little by the wayside. When I was browsing in the Benefit section of Manchester Airport’s Duty Free, I actually thought this was misplaced as it just didn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the products as it is a lot more subdued and, well, normal looking! But of course this matches exactly with the branding of Benefit’s other skin care products so they can be forgiven.

As for the product itself, it was okay. Unfortunately, I wasn’t blown away by the results. I think with skincare, reviews like this are going to be a little varied as there are many different skin types which will react differently to products like this, which is the case here. One thing I like about this is how creamy it is, yet it dries really quickly, which is great! With some eye creams I have tried, they have felt really greasy under my eyes which is a real off putter. But I didn’t feel like that at all with this and in all fairness, I did feel like I looked a bit more awake after using it. However, I didn’t feel like it did anything to help my dark circles which is the reason I bought it.

I use this just before bed time after I have cleansed my face so maybe I should try using this in the morning before I apply my make-up? I have read others using it then instead so maybe I’ll try that. I don’t like to apply too many products to my face before I apply my make-up for the day in case it affects the longevity of my foundation which I have an issue with anyway due to me having oily skin.

Have you used this? If so, what did you think?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve not tried any of the Benefit skincare, I always think its overpriced and you’re just paying for the name. Shame you didn’t get on with it though!

  2. I got this about a month ago and im pretty happy with the results. I think the best results are in the morning before you apply makeup. I put it on once i wakeup and wash my face and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes then rub it in and i notice that it lightens the dark circles alot. I did a review on this two weeks ago myself lol
Try it in the morning and let me know how you go!

  3. I actually really like this. I use it in the mornings and a Kiehls one in the evening. I also love putting It’s Potent over my makeup at the end of the day as it’s really cooling and doesn’t seperate my makeup.

Such a shame you didn’t get on well with it!

  5. I got this sample in a gift set at Christmas and I really didn’t see any benefits whatsoever, it was just a boring pretty standard eye cream which is SO overpriced xx
