You may have seen me mention a couple of times now that I have been really into using face masks. Usually on a Sunday evening when I’m relaxing and getting myself ready for the week ahead. One I have been loving recently is the Avon Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask which I have heard is comparable to the much more expensive alternative, Origins Active Charcoal Mask, although I can’t personally comment on the similarities or differences.
Many different brands have brought out similar clay masks due to their oil absorbing and cleansing properties, helping to unclog pores and fight break outs. The active ingredient in this mask is salycilic acid which is one of the best anti-spot treatments there is on the market so with that in mind, I tried this with a positive outlook.
This mask is very easy to apply with an almost gel like texture so it wasn’t sticky at all. You don’t need much to cover your full face so I can see this lasting me a long time. You can also target just your problem areas if that’s what you prefer, meaning you use even less!
Once this is applied, it takes around 10 minutes to dry (depending on how thick you apply it) and it does actually look like clay once it dries. It dries to a grey colour and what I really love about this mask is that you can actually tell where the oil has been drawn from your skin. In my case, it was mostly around my nose and chin so this reassured me that it had worked.
To remove the mask, I took a damp face cloth and wiped it away which proved to be quite easy. I started off by just placing the cloth on my face to allow the mask to come away from my skin first so I wasn’t scrubbing at it and I used warm water on the cloth which also seemed to help. Once I removed the mask, I used some moisturiser and my skin felt lovely and soft.
For a few days later, I definitely noticed a difference with how much longer my foundation was lasting throughout the day as I felt like less oil was coming through which I usually have an issue with.
Overall, I would recommend anyone with oily skin to give this mask a try. I bought it for £3 which is an absolute bargain so you can’t go wrong!
Have you tried this mask or any others from Avon?
Thanks for reading!
